by *~ Sadie ~*, 4 hours agoOur weekend 10 man won't be running Saturday night so I tossed up an Ulduar sign up on the calendar. If we can get enough people, it might be fun to go in and blow the place up.
We can maybe try and grab some achieves, and see if we can't get a couple of shards to drop. If you'll be around and looking for something fun to do, go sign up!

by *~ Sadie ~*, 15 days agoWith another xpac looming on the horizon, it's time to start considering what role you want to play in our raids. Are you going to stick with the same toon as your 25 man raiding toon? Are you going to change to an alt?
And this xpac brings a new twist with 10 and 25 mans being on the same lock out. Many members are leveling (or gearing) a second toon so that they can still run both 10 and 25 man raids. What about you?
We'd like to get an idea what all of our raiders are considering doing for Cataclysm so that we can begin the planning.

Sitting at work, reading the forums. You guys crack me up. Thanks so much for being such awesomesauce.
by *~ Sadie ~*, 17 days agoThere has been some discussion amongst the officers about the possibility of bringing in a new officer. Sham is still around in what I jokingly call a “consulting role.” But he is not officially an officer since RL has caught up with him and taken over much of his time. Over the years, we have tried multiple ways of deciding on new officers from taking applications, (bad idea) ninja promoting (worked well in some cases, others not so much) and just picking people and saying “hey you wanna be an officer?”
Why am I telling you all of this? I’ll tell ya why - because your opinion matters. We are curious whom our members would choose if they could choose an officer. Here is how it works. If you can think of someone that you think would be a good addition to our current group, send me a PM via the website with their name. DO NOT POST IT HERE. We don’t want people that are “nominated” to feel pressured, nor do we want the officers to feel pressured either. I know I have a few ideas and I am sure the other officers might as well, but we’d really like to see who our members think of when we say “potential officer.”
Now for the disclaimers:
- We are not saying we ARE bringing in a new officer. We are CONSIDERING it.
- Suggested names will NOT be disclosed outside of the current officer group. I’d suggest that each of you follow that as well and keep your suggestions private.
- Suggested names are just that, suggestions. We are not implying that anyone suggested will become an officer. Should we decide that we are bringing in a new officer, there are criteria that will have to be met.
- If you suggest yourself, you should probably just turn off your computer and walk away.
Just a few qualities we are looking for:
- Reliability - both for raids and meetings
- Ability to be a leader. Speak up when it is necessary, listen when necessary and the ability to tell when to do which.
- Integrity and Honesty
- Knowledge of the game, preferably multiple classes
- Maturity
- Ability to give AND accept criticism in a non-confrontational way
- Understands confidentiality - The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club!
Think you know a guildie that fits that? Send me a PM.
by *~ Sadie ~*, 18 days agoI was looking through my bank the other day and saw my Val'nyr fragments. I'd REALLY like the opportunity to complete the dang thing but it's difficult to do in pug since you can't really jump into a group and say "I call dibs on frags!" And once all the frags are collected, there is a little hurdle of killing Yogg (one light to boot)
So how about it? Anyone game for farming Ulduar for a few weeks? I already have 15 of the frags, so it's not like I am starting from the beginning. Alts are fine AS LONG AS they aren't undergeared and expecting a free ride.
C'mon hook a sista up! You'll get brownie points from the GM!
by *~ Sadie ~*, 25 days agoMagic and Mayhem has been around for quite a while. When I started the guild, I wasn’t quite certain the direction it was going to take. Honestly, I just didn’t like what I had seen in other guilds so I started my own so that I could do it differently. I didn’t know anything about running a guild. I barely knew anything about the game itself. Hell, my warlock was my first and ONLY toon at the time and she had just barely dinged 60 the day M&M was born. I had done 3 dungeons - Deadmines, ZF and ST. Raiding? lol, yeah, what is that? Yes, I was a noob. It was shortly thereafter that I asked Felexi when my Warlock would get to learn the portal spell. /facepalm
It has been a learning experience for me and I am sure it has been for the other officers as well. We have come a LONG way. It’s a wonder we even survived Kara to be honest, but we did. We have always made decisions based upon what we felt was fairest and what was best for the membership as a whole. That doesn’t mean we have always been right, but we have been doing the best we could.
That brings me to today. Many of our processes have been in place for quite a long time and many of the rules as well. I started asking myself if they are still the right things for us to be doing. Will they allow us to continue to prosper into Cata or will M&M fall prey to the xpac gods as so many other guilds have done prior?
So basically, I am looking for opinions. What do you like about M&M? What do you like about our rules? What do you dislike? *IF* you could make changes what would you like to see? These questions are all encompassing. I am examining every aspect of the guild - raiding, the guild bank, the culture, the rules, the hierarchy, everything and I want to know what the members like and dislike. After all, I am just the chairman of the board. You guys are the stockholders and have just as much to gain and/or lose from the success and/or failure of this guild as I do.
Before you go make a huge long post, let me be upfront with you. Just because you post that you would like to see something change, doesn’t mean it will. But it doesn’t mean it won’t either. The officers and I just want to determine IF we should consider making changes or if we should stick to the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
So...let's hear it! Click the reply button and let the ideas spew forth!
