by *~ Sadie ~*, 57 minutes agoWe have a culture of giving people crap. It's part of our guild's joking nature and for the most part historically the jokes have been mostly good natured. But lately, there have been a few lines crossed and I wanted to address it.
There are some things that I feel we just should be a little more careful about. Certain topics are considered "taboo" in polite society and they should also be shied away from here. More and more, I am hearing comments dissing sexual orientation, certain religions and even once or twice, race. Those kinds of jokes, while meant to be funny, can be hurtful and offensive to some members.
Please keep that in mind when joking in chat and on vent. We are all friends and we really should be a little more aware of whom we could quite possibly be offending and/or alienating.
Thanks for your cooperation.
by *~ Sadie ~*, 2 days agoSo I finally took the time to compile all of the links that I was sent for our research "hub." As if right now, it is just a list of websites. I am hoping that sometime in the future, I will be able to section it off and make it look neater but until then, it is at least functional. It is located on the left side of the page, near the top. It’s called “Research Links.”
Thank you to all those that responded to my request for sites. I do have to say that I am completely underwhelmed by the amount of participation that I got. With the amount of "raiders" that are in Magic and Mayhem, I should have gotten many more responses than I did. Many of the responses that I did get were from social members and people that aren’t even playing WoW anymore. It was actually quite pathetic.
What does that tell me? It makes me think many different things...
- Our social members care more about perfecting what they do than many of our raiders.
- Several members don't even bother doing research so they had no sites to contribute
- Some members don't read their website PM's
- Other members thinks it's okay to ignore requests from the GM
- A few members thought "oh well, someone else will contribute what I have to contribute so I just won't even bother"
- Quite a few members are just plain lazy
Now, the list has been created, I expect that every single raider take the time to look over it. Check out the links. Make use of it. If you think of anything that can be added, feel free to edit the page and add it.
by *~ Sadie ~*, 7 days agoOur weekend 10 man won't be running Saturday night so I tossed up an Ulduar sign up on the calendar. If we can get enough people, it might be fun to go in and blow the place up.
We can maybe try and grab some achieves, and see if we can't get a couple of shards to drop. If you'll be around and looking for something fun to do, go sign up!

by *~ Sadie ~*, 20 days agoWith another xpac looming on the horizon, it's time to start considering what role you want to play in our raids. Are you going to stick with the same toon as your 25 man raiding toon? Are you going to change to an alt?
And this xpac brings a new twist with 10 and 25 mans being on the same lock out. Many members are leveling (or gearing) a second toon so that they can still run both 10 and 25 man raids. What about you?
We'd like to get an idea what all of our raiders are considering doing for Cataclysm so that we can begin the planning.
by *~ Sadie ~*, 21 days agoI LOVE MY GUILD!!
Sitting at work, reading the forums. You guys crack me up. Thanks so much for being such awesomesauce.
by *~ Sadie ~*, 23 days agoThere has been some discussion amongst the officers about the possibility of bringing in a new officer. Sham is still around in what I jokingly call a “consulting role.” But he is not officially an officer since RL has caught up with him and taken over much of his time. Over the years, we have tried multiple ways of deciding on new officers from taking applications, (bad idea) ninja promoting (worked well in some cases, others not so much) and just picking people and saying “hey you wanna be an officer?”
Why am I telling you all of this? I’ll tell ya why - because your opinion matters. We are curious whom our members would choose if they could choose an officer. Here is how it works. If you can think of someone that you think would be a good addition to our current group, send me a PM via the website with their name. DO NOT POST IT HERE. We don’t want people that are “nominated” to feel pressured, nor do we want the officers to feel pressured either. I know I have a few ideas and I am sure the other officers might as well, but we’d really like to see who our members think of when we say “potential officer.”
Now for the disclaimers:
- We are not saying we ARE bringing in a new officer. We are CONSIDERING it.
- Suggested names will NOT be disclosed outside of the current officer group. I’d suggest that each of you follow that as well and keep your suggestions private.
- Suggested names are just that, suggestions. We are not implying that anyone suggested will become an officer. Should we decide that we are bringing in a new officer, there are criteria that will have to be met.
- If you suggest yourself, you should probably just turn off your computer and walk away.
Just a few qualities we are looking for:
- Reliability - both for raids and meetings
- Ability to be a leader. Speak up when it is necessary, listen when necessary and the ability to tell when to do which.
- Integrity and Honesty
- Knowledge of the game, preferably multiple classes
- Maturity
- Ability to give AND accept criticism in a non-confrontational way
- Understands confidentiality - The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club!
Think you know a guildie that fits that? Send me a PM.
